Restaurants can be fine-dining
establishments offering a high standard of food and service with prices to
match, or budget restaurants offering good quality food and limited
service. The range can include large
establishments that seat 200 guests or more, or small restaurants that seat
only 10-20 guests. Some are licensed
to sell alcohol and/or alternatively have a licence that allows you to bring
your own liquor (BYOs).
In 1998 there were amendments to
the NSW Liquor Act that allows a licensed restaurant to serve just
drinks. This is called the
Dine-or-Drink authority. A
dine-or-drink authority allows a restaurant to allocate up to 30% of the
restaurant’s dining seats for patrons who may wish to drink liquor without
having a meal. At least 70% of dining
seats must be allocated to dining patrons at all times – and those patrons
must have a meal in order to be served alcohol.
The Pavilion on the Park
restaurant is located directly across the street from the Art Gallery of New
South Wales, on the edge of the Domain and serves food best described as
modern European, with strong Provincial influences.
Pavilion on the Park is available, by
special arrangement, for weddings, private and corporate events and will seat
from 30 to 200 guests (depending upon the room configuration) for a lunch or
dinner event, and can accommodate up to 400 guests cocktail style.
